Fans waited overnight outside the musician's home, while colleagues and artists joined the celebration from different parts of the world.
La esquina de Coronel Díaz y avenida Santa Fe, en Palermo, amaneció rodeada de flores, carteles y songs dedicated to Charly García. From midnight on October 23, fans of different ages gathered outside the building where the musician lives, many arriving before dawn to mark his 75th birthday with an atmosphere that was both intimate and collective.
A party at the door of the house
The celebration was not limited to the people on the street. García appeared on the balcony to thank those who had come to greet him. Outside, there were red, orange and yellow flowers, black ribbons and pieces of paper with pentagrams taped to the windows. The presence of fans of different generations showed how the singer's music had become part of very different personal stories.
“I was very moved by what happened. All those people, the music, the flowers, the messages. It was a beautiful way to receive such a beautiful birthday.”Charly García
Carlos Vives, who has spoken publicly about García's influence on his own artistic path, performed El fantasma de Canterville during the special program Reloj de Plastilina, broadcast by Mega 98.3. The program also recalled the figure of guitarist García López, another key name in the history of Argentine rock.
Lali Espósito joined the tributes with a black and white photograph from García's early years. In her post, she quoted the chorus of Necesito tu amor and wrote Amor total. Their relationship has been marked by more than a decade of public affection, meetings and mutual admiration within the musician's circle.
Moria Casán also remembered García on television. The actress recalled that the singer had invited her to the celebrations through someone close to him, although she was unable to attend. She described him as a prócer de la música and told an anecdote from years ago: after returning from nine days detained in Paraguay, she found a Christmas party organized by Fito Páez and García.
“They told me: you are our maximum rockstar, you were missing jail. They gave me a divine, unforgettable night.”Moria Casán
Fito Páez left his message in the early hours of the birthday. He thanked García for not being afraid, in reference to the way the musician faced decades of Argentine history through his songs. The phrase also summarized the attitude that those close to him attribute to his career: a willingness to keep going, without renouncing his voice or his causes.
